Why we are building Raven Shelf.
A writer's project, opened to a community.
In 2021, Adro Morelos needed a place to keep the poetry he was writing, and a way to bring friends into it so they could keep each other writing. He started a small site called El Librero Negro. Everything since has grown from there.
What we wanted to build
Most places to publish online had become loud. Everything turned into ads and content designed to keep you scrolling. The connection those places once promised had been replaced by something completely hollow. We wanted out.
We wanted somewhere to leave a record of the way we think, somewhere we could come back to years later and see how much had changed. A place where writing was not ephemeral and disposable. A place that was not built to become another business or another newsletter empire.
Then came the machines. A human voice writing something true is worth more than anything generated to fill a feed. We wanted somewhere on the other side of all that. A place for people who write because they have something to say, not because they are trying to build a brand.
Raven Shelf is built in the open. Slow on purpose. It is small, and it will stay small for a while. A small, stubborn pushback against a world where AI is producing content at scale. We hope people find it. We hope they find each other here.
Our story
It started with poetry. The project was originally called El Librero Negro, a personal label for Adro's own writing before it grew into a home for other voices. Today it is Raven Shelf, still small and still finding its shape.
The founderAdro MorelosFounder & writer
Adro Morelos is a creative person. He draws, takes photos, plays music, writes, and builds software. Each of those comes from the same need to create and express ideas through different outlets. He started El Librero Negro in 2021 as a place to leave a record of his thinking, and to see, years later, what he believed and what he was wrong about. Today he leads Raven Shelf and writes for it.

People who shaped this
It started small but not alone. These are some of the people whose writing and conversations shaped the early shape of this place.
There is a place for what you write.
